Out of the mouths of babes
So it finally happened, Brekken said something that I was hoping I could avoid his whole childhood. He actually said two things within a week of each other. On our drive to NE we stopped at Burger King to eat. After getting our seat and I got up to throw something in the garbage. When I got back Brekken said, " Mom I saw a fat guy". Wow was I ever mortified! There was a larger man sitting at the table next to us. I told Brekken that we don't say things like that, but I couldn't even look over at the man. I felt terrible. The next horrifying moment happened at church today. We were sitting in the pew, sacrament meeting had just begun and a very dark skinned black boy came in and sat in the pew in back of us. Can you see where this is going? Well my sweet little Brekken put his hand out to give the boy a high five. The boy clapped his hand and Brekk turned to me and said, "mom his hand is black". My mind is racing, what do I say! " Yes Brekken it is". I was hopping that would be the end of it but then he said, "and his face is black too". Just drop it kid is what I was thinking. He is so sweet, I love this little guy. Our little ones sure do put us in awkward positions don't they. Anyone have any advise the next time he says something that may really offend someone?

I'm back
So i feel like I finally have some time to breath. Between figuring out were we were going to go for work, what to do with our house (do we sell? do we rent?), getting the house packed and ready for renters, sending Burr off to NE, moving in with Christina for 10 days, visiting my parents in OR for 2 1/2 weeks, going to UT for Burr's grandmothers funeral, and finally making it to Lincoln, NE.... I haven't had much time for blogging. Oh did I mention I have less then 2 months until this new B boy is due. Well I have been in Lincoln for almost a week now. It's really nice here. I miss my friends terribly but I hope to make new friends soon. This Sunday will be the first Sunday here so we will get to go to church and meet people.
So my inspiration for starting this up today was something Brekk said when we were out shopping today. We were at Bed Bath and Beyond and got to the front where all the candy and toys were. This is how the conversation went.
Brekken: Mom I really want this candy.
Me: No Brekk, not today
Brekken: But mom I really want it.
Me: No you don't always get something every time we go somewhere so go put it back.
Brekken: Well I'm just not going to listen to you then, if you say that.
Me: You don't talk to me like that and go put that back right now.
By this point I'm really trying to stay calm but loosing my patients. So I stood by the exit waiting for him to take it back. When I realized this approach wasn't getting me anywhere I brought his over to where the candy was and told him to put it back and this is when it got funny and my little dramatic boy showed his true colors.
Brekken: Good bye candy. I really want you. I really want to have all of you candies. Sob sob sob....
He is talking to the candy like the candy is a person.
Later on that day we went to wallmart to get a few things. I saw some cups with the built in straws. I thought they would be great for Brekk because we are trying to get him off of the sippy cups. When I put them in the cart this is what was said
Brekken: Mom you are nice now.
Me: Why do you say that I'm nice now.
Brekken: because you got me these, and you said I couldn't get anything today.
Arrrrrrg! What in the world am I supposed to do? What am I teaching my son. He thinks he has to get something every time we go to the store. I think I will blame this one on Burr.
