Leann and I did the Homolovi Fun run on July 11 organized by a the Hopi tribe. We were twins. It was a 6.5 mile cross country course. I thought that it was going to be a piece of cake, but it was actually really tuff. I have never run cross country before. We were running on sand for more than half the time. It wasn't even dirt it was sand like you would find on the beach. Most of the course was marked well with blue and pink flags but about a quarter of a mile to the finish we some how got lost. We were wondering around trying to find the course. We kept seeing what we thought were shoe prints but who knows. We eventually found the course just down a little hill and we were back on track. There was another man who was running behind us and also helping look for the course we really didn't want to come in last so we picked up the pace and beat him. He was probably in his 50's so I'm glad he didn't pass us. After the run they did some prize drawings, they had like 20 prizes and about 30 to 40 people running. I guess we are not that lucky because neither of us won. Sigh! They also gave each runner corn on the cob that they had cooked in the ground, it was delicious. It was a neat experience the Hopi culture and traditions. One of the men running the activities spoke a little about the Hopi culture. He told us that they don't have metals for us because we can not take them into the next like but he wanted to leave us with his prayers. This run, his hopefully, one that I will do every year.

Crash

Brock had his very first trip to the Emergency Room last week. He was in his high chair eating cheerios while i was getting dressed. I heard a crash and then the most horrible cry I have ever heard. When I found him he was on the tile screaming and Brekk was next to his playing with my flowers. I didn't see what happened but he may have had help getting out from his big brother. I was frantic, you would have thought he was my first baby. Because his Doctor is in Flagstaff 45 min away I decided to take his to the ER just to make sure he was OK. I was not all the way dressed, hair not combed, no make-up, Brekk was running around in only his diaper, and Brock was filthy dirty from crawling around all morning in his white onezie. I tried to call Burr who was working on a house in town but he left his cell phone home. How annoying!!!! At the time I was thinking worst case scenario, Brock had cracked his scull. Now that I look back I was being a very over protective mom. I hurried to get myself dressed, Brekken dressed, Quickly brushed my hair out and ran out the door. I dropped Brekk off at Corie's house and headed to the ER. On the way there a lady cut me off and I lost, I started crying from the stress and frustration. I was so mad at myself for not buckling Brock in (we normally don't because the tray sits right up against his belly), I couldn't get a hold off Burr, Brock was screaming in the car, and now some lady cuts me off. Arrrgh! Sob Sob Sob. Well Brock was just fine and we were in and out with in an hour. The moral of the story... always buckle your child in his high chair even if you think he will be OK with out it.
